Biography
Ashley Kistler is Assistant Professor of Anthropology and Latin American and Caribbean Studies at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Dr. Kistler earned her BA in Spanish and Latin American Anthropology at Muhlenberg College and her MA and PhD in Anthropology at Florida State University. At Rollins, Dr. Kistler teaches classes on Latin America, anthropological theory, the Maya, and linguistic anthropology. She has also taught several service-learning courses focused on Orlandoââ'¬â"¢s older adult population, including one on kinship and another on reality television. She is also a trained immersion facilitator and co-led an Alternate Spring Break trip to a coffee farm founded by ex-guerrillas in Western Guatemala. Dr. Kistler has published several articles on her research on kinship and memory in San Juan Chamelco, Guatemala and on the pedagogy of service-learning. She is currently serving as Book Review Editor for Collaborative Anthropologies.
