Michael Meyer

Biography

Michael Meyer is an FSU Anthropology alumnus who has worked as an archaeologist in the southeastern United States (Southeast Archeology Center, National Park Service, Innovation Park, FSU). He is currently employed by the Missouri Department of Transportation. As a staff archaeologist projects involving road right-of-ways fall under the DOT's consideration. A lot of his work in the last decade has been in urban areas that, people in the past, have 'written off' as 'too disturbed' to be of much scientific interest. As is often the case, actually looking to see what is there is very different from uninformed preconceptions. Take a look at this link and you can see some of the interesting things he, and the DOT, are involved in - http://www.dayofarchaeology.com/250-years-of-history-excavating-colonial-st-louis/
