Biography
Joshua D. Englehardt is a Profesor-Investigador at the Centro de Estudios Arqueolgicos of El Colegio de Michoacn. He specializes in Mesoamerican archaeology and Maya epigraphy, with a research focus on the development of Mesoamerican writing systems in the Formative period and the correlation of emerging scripts with diachronic changes in material culture. He is the co-director of the Mesoamerican Corpus of Formative Period Art and Writing, and editor of the volume Agency in Ancient Writing. He obtained a B.A. from the University of Michigan, received his M.A. in Anthropological Sciences at the Universidad Autnoma de Yucatn, and earned a Ph.D. in Anthropology at Florida State University. He has lived, worked, or studied in a variety of countries, including Nepal, India, Thailand, England, Kenya, and Mexico.
