Faculty Recruiting Graduate Students

Dr. Choeeta Chakrabarti is recruiting graduate students interested in mixed-methods research in cultural, bio-cultural and medical anthropology, especially as it relates to health behavior and outcomes. Students interested in structural violence, spread of extreme ideologies, and the consequences social inequality -both in the US and globally - should also apply. Students with strong quantitative backgrounds, interest in ethnographic methods and strong language skills are desired, but not mandatory.

Dr. Anna Cohen is recruiting students interested in social complexity, political economy, ceramic and/or geospatial analyses, research ethics, and Mesoamerican archaeology.

Dr. Dengah is recruiting graduate students interested in cognitive and medical anthropology, and learning how to conduct mixed-method ethnography.

Dr. Falk is not actively recruiting at this time but may accept graduate students studying a narrow range of subjects centered on the evolution of the brain and advanced cognitive and creative abilities. Please contact her directly to determine if your potential research topic is a good fit.

K. Ann Horsburgh is recruiting graduate students with interests in the interactions between lived experiences and health, broadly construed. Some background in biology is an advantage, but not essential. 

Rochelle Marrinan is interested in working with students focusing on Zooarchaeology, Spanish Mission archaeology, and Contact Period studies. 

Mark D. McCoy is recruiting graduate students interested in studying ancient societies, geospatial archaeology, and the archaeology of Pacific Islands, especially the Hawaiian Islands, Aotearoa (New Zealand), Rapa Nui (Easter Island), and the islands of Micronesia. Tanya Peres is recruiting graduate students interested in foodways in the ancient Americas and the non-food roles of animals in Native American societies, and with previous experience in archaeological fieldwork, zooarchaeological analysis, paleoethnobotanical analysis, and other basic archaeological skillsets.

Eric Shattuck is recruiting graduate students interested in health, sickness behavior, inflammation and immune function, sleep, and vaccine hesitancy across a variety of social and cultural contexts.

Geoff Thomas is interested in recruiting graduate students with interests in Bioarchaeology and Paleopathology of the American Southeast with specific interests in growth and development, health, behavioral reconstruction, and gender as it related to social organization and subsistence practices.
